You will arrive in the afternoon and join those who will be your family for one night. The family members will show you the house and the surroundings and you will have enough time to talk with the family and get to know them a little better. At the end of the afternoon, the adventure begins with cooking together, where you learn how to prepare typical dishes. As soon as the master class is over, you share the prepared dinner with the family. At dinner, you will have the opportunity to exchange views on cultural topics during spontaneous talks and curious questions. As long as you want you can sit together and talk. At the end of the evening, you cover your room. The next morning, the family prepares a typical breakfast for you, which you join together before you say goodbye to the family members. Living with a Costa Rican family gives you the opportunity to experience first-hand the local culture and get to know the customs and ways of life in the countryside. The inhabitants are very friendly people who live in simple houses, mostly surrounded by nature, fields and pastures. They are farmers who lead a very quiet life, surrounded by farm and domestic animals. The houses are simple, with small rooms. There is limited comfort. All houses have a shared bathroom for the whole family, which also has no hot water. Showering with cold water is, therefore, part of the cultural experience. The tour is for travellers who show great interest in the local culture, tolerant, sociable and respectful people who like to live together with children and pets. If you are such a person, you will greatly appreciate the opportunity to be part of the Costa Rican culture for a brief moment.
Please note that the family only speaks Spanish.
